Kalaimamani Dr. Gayathri Girish is one of the popular vocalists in the field of Carnatic Music having spent more than 35 years in the field.
Her forte lies in the use of technology to deliver engaging capsules of multimedia concerts, lecture-demonstrations and thematic presentations based on her research. Her research work focuses on our Vedic and mythological literature, works of ancient saints and composers emphasising the ideals of Sanatana Dharma.
She has given concerts in all major Sabhas in Chennai and has travelled widely throughout India and many other countries.
She is the recipient of several prestigious titles like “Kalaimamani”, “Isai Peroli”, “Sahithyapriya”, “Sangeetha Bhaskara”, “Gaana Rathna” from the Department of Cultural Affairs, Colombo, “Yuva Kala Bharathi” and many more. She also received the “Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar” instituted by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, in August 2014.
She is an “A-grade” artiste of All India Radio, Chennai and has performed for Doordarshan and other private television channels.
Violinist M. Vijay, started his musical journey under the guidance of Smt. R. Vidhya and later under Sri. CA Rajasekar.
He is currently under the tutelage of renowned violin exponent Sri S. Varadarajan. He has been performing since 2002 and has gone on to accompany various acclaimed musicians across India and abroad.
Some of the awards and recognitions achieved through the years are listed below:
- 2006 – Stood first in the All India Radio competition for Violin and awarded a B Grade.
- 2008 – Lalgudi Sri. Gopala Iyer Endowment award from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai.
- 2010 – Promoted to ‘B High’ grade by the All India Radio.
- 2015 – Best Junior Violinist from Sri. Parthasarathy Swami Sabha.
- 2016 – Best Junior Violinist from The Music Academy, Madras.
- 2021 – Youth Excellence Award from Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer Trust.
- 2023 – AG Ramaswamy Centennial Memorial Award for Best Violinist from Kartik Fine Arts.
Mridangam Artist Kumbakonam K Swaminathan is the star disciple of the reputed Mridangam Vidwan Sri Poongulam S. Subramanian. His formal training on the mridangam began at a very tender age from Kumbakonam Azhagu Nambiya pillai, disciple Vidwan Sri Singaram Pillai. Training continued with Vidwan Natchiyarkoil V Raghu.
He is an “A” Grade Artist. Formally he received a rare double promotion to become a “B High” grade artist in All India Radio.
He has had the privilege of accompanying five of India’s Padma Awards and Sangeetha Kalanidhi awardees and has performed for them many times.
All the most respected Sabhas in the world of Carnatic World invite him to perform regularly.
