Vani and the Sai sisters explore the Rāgam Shanmukhapriya using classical Carnatic and popular film music creating a unique mash up of songs, musical systems, and talents!
Drawing stylistic inspiration from the Rāgas Ahir Bhairav and Chakravākam, Anirudh, Kavi, and Rohan explore the concept of ‘awakening’. Vocals, strings, winds, and percussion from both the Indian and Western traditions come together moving the piece from sparse, and gradually building until it is ‘fully awoken’!!
As inheritors of myriad musical, social, and cultural practices, Mayuri, Ravi and Niravroh function at intersections between the many communities they inhabit. Their piece is informed by an exploration of these individual experiences as aspiring professional musicians of the Diaspora in California.
Using tones and Rāgas whose frequencies resonate with those of the human energy centers, this work by Priyanka, Aashray and Hriday seeks to imaginatively invoke the myriad qualities of the chakras and awaken the listener.
